Gyan & Manager Arrested -Over 'Castro-Question' Assault

Samuel Anim Addo, Business Manager and Spokesperson for Black Stars Captain Asamoah Gyan, and the footballer's brother, Baffour Gyan, were arrested in Kumasi last Saturday for allegedly being part of a group that assaulted Daniel Kenu, Daily Graphic's Ashanti Regional Editor.

Daniel Kenu was assaulted and chased out of the Baba Yara Sports Stadium during the training session of the Black Stars on Friday after the journalist asked Asamoah Gyan about the whereabouts of Castro, the missing hip-life star.

The question was asked during a press briefing; and though Asamoah Gyan did not give an answer, his brother, Baffour, was reported to have later led some men with heavily built muscles to physically assault the journalist.

Reports indicate that the Ashanti Regional Police Commander, ACP Kofi Boakye, led officials to arrest Baffour Gyan at the Golden Tulip Hotel in Kumasi on Saturday morning and whisked him to the Central Police Station.

Samuel Anim Addo later followed up to the police station to get bail for Baffour Gyan but was also arrested the moment he introduced himself. He was apparently unaware that the victim, Danuel Kenu, had mentioned his name as one of the people who assaulted him.

Anim Addo's arrest was carried out at the Central Police Station in Kumasi few hours before the Ghana/Uganda crunch tie at the Baba Yara Stadium.

The Daily Graphic staff was violently attacked on Friday for asking Asamoah Gyan a question about his missing friend, Castro, at a press soiree on Tuesday.

Asamoah Gyan, on hearing of the arrest of his Manager and brother, reportedly threatened to withdraw from the Ghana/Uganda game.

The Black Stars' captain was said to have left camp to the Central Police Station few hours to the game to see if he could use his stardom to free his brother.

But Gyan was left disappointed as the regional police command led by DCOP Kofi Boakye, ensured that the law worked.

After going up-and-down and speaking with some people, the Al Ain striker left the police station to join his colleagues in camp 

The two were later granted police inquiry bail and told to report at the Central Police Station Monday morning to assist police in their investigations.
