AK Is No Hype; Her Competition Is Not The Ladies

I am not in any way trying to be superlative in my writing but colleague writers or journalists who do go out to events not only at the Accra International Conference Centre's (AICC) and the National Theatre's but also to other public events will testify or agree with me that AK Di Songstress is no hype and the only GH female artist who is currently competing with the men especially when it comes to stage act. She was indeed in her elements at the DJ's Awards last Saturday.

Some music fans refer to her as 'Di Dancehall Queen', others also love to call her 'Di Dancehall Mother' and that really tells how she has been publicly accepted by Ghanaians especially in the dancehall fraternity.

Winning the discovery artist of the year in the coming Vodafone Ghana Music Awards will come as no surprise at all since the general public have really enjoyed all singles she released in the year under review.

Speaking to the energetic dancehall queen who just returned from South Africa for a video shoot, she attributed her success in the music industry to God and disclosed she is different from other female artistes now in the country because she 'Performs'. 'When I get on stage I perform.

If you put me on your show, it strictly about performance and not to 'model-sing'. That's the more reason why people love what I do. I don't get on stage and just sing, I give to my audience what they want. They bought tickets to come watch me perform. When it comes to performance, the females are not my competition. I love the energy some the dancehall men show on stage. I leave stage and rest because I work a lot up there' she stated.

AK who tremendously premiered her 'Funky Fresh' music video at the Dj Awards over the weekend, will drop another surprise video which was also shot in South Africa later this year. She has already dropped four hit singles 'Pace Setter, Empress, Party ft Danny Beats, and Funky Fresh' which have all enjoyed massive airplay across the country and is yet to release the fifth one titled 'True Love', which comes with its video.

'True Love's video is ready and that's a surprise, I'm dropping it with the song. Trust me this song is timeless and will not only be for the month of love. The videos for 'Empress and Party ft Danny Beats' are already on TV. I will be working on 'Pace Setter' and we will announce shooting date and location very soon' she revealed.
