25-year-old female director casts veteran Ghanaian actors in her first movie.

A bubby 25-year-old new female movie director has casted some of Ghana's biggest names in movies in her attempt to make it in country's movie industry.

The lady, Evelyn Robynson, unperturbed by the fact that she has never really produced a movie before opted for the daredevil approach by handing movie scripts to veterans including, David Dontoh, Doris Sackitey, Fred Amugi, and Adjetey Anang.

These movie greats, and more, star in her first movie 'Announcement' which is set to premiere at the National on January 31.

'Announcement' tells the story of the kidnapping of the eleven year-old daughter of Rev. Martin Sam by Samuel Mama, a young man who managed to break out of prison seven years in his life sentence.

Samuel Mama makes a demand that Rev. Sam makes a public announcement he, the man of God, committed the crime for which Samuel Mama was imprisoned or he will not see his daughter again.

The suspense-filled movie captures one's attempt to save his daughters life while fighting sins of the past.

Evelyn Robynson, who hails from Osu in the Greater Accra region but spent most of her youthful years in the United Kingdom disclosed, after a special preview of the movie Thursday, that she is excited by the outcome of her first work.

According Evelyn, a graduate of Met Film School in London, her age never deterred her from putting her talent to good use and thanked the veteran actors for their support in making her dream come true.  

David Dontoh, who played the role of a church elder in the movie, told Myjoyonline.com that the young director deserves thumbs up for the movie, which he described as a breath of fresh air to movie industry.

He revealed that, he accepted the role in the movie "because I thought the lady was a new entrant in the industry, quite industrious, quite professional, some who wanted to do the right thing and I thought it will be good for me to be part of it to support her and give her one or two directions."

While underlining the importance of a producer and director in a movie production and the need to gain the requisite experience before venturing into, David Dontoh called for the need to encourage young persons who have the talent and ability to direct and produce a movies.

"If you have studied it, there is nothing wrong with somebody in the 20s directing a movie. We have had very precocious directors who have made big films at very young ages and it's because they've learnt it," he said.
