NOV 30, 2013 LISTEN

Once again, Prince Kojo-Hilton, the multi-talented creative artist, has added another magnificent artifact to his resume; thus, the creation of the first ever man-made volcano in the world.

Were you at the Guinness Big Eruption concert at the Accra Sports Stadium on Saturday 23rd Nov, 2013? Did you see the eruption of the 16 feat Guinness bottle from something that looked like a natural volcano? Did you marvel at the eruption effect? And did you appreciate it?

Well, out of curiosity, GhanaSuperStars.Com got in touch with a member of the organizers – Charterhouse and the fellow revealed to us that it is the ever art-genius Prince Kojo-Hilton who manufactured the volcano. Are you the one who suggested the volcanic stage concept for the event or it's the organizers?

Prince replied: “honestly, it's the organizers who suggested it. Charterhouse is one of my respected clients. I've been working with them for some years now so they know my capabilities. I think what made them fall on me is that I've done equally challenging and mind-tasking art works for them before. I once created a very huge Geisha Globe they used for the launching of Unilever's new Geisha look.

So they created the volcano concept, explained to me and I did a miniature for their perusal. After seeing the volcanic miniature I did, they marveled and asked me to go ahead.” How did you do it? “Well it took me a full month to do it with 8 of my team members. We manufactured 5 of the volcanoes.

In case you don't know Prince Kojo-Hilton's works, he is the one who created the platform on which Ghana's late President His Excellency John Evans Fiifi Attah Mills was laid in state.

He can turn a black person into a white person and vice versa with special make up effects. He is the one who created the first ever Ghetto Blaster stage for Empire Entertainment's Back in the Day concert in 2012. Kojo-Hilton is a product of NAFTI. He recently won the 2nd position in the Hennessy Futura art graffiti competition. He is also working on set design for the theatrical performance of The Lion King by the Tema International School.

Prince Kojo-Hilton is indeed an art gem. He is a Production Designer, Set Designer, Creative Director, Storyboard Illustrator, Special Effects Artist and does other creative works that beats imaginations. He is the founder of Prince Hilton's School of Creative Art and the Art Department located in Adabraka – next to Ernest Bruce Memorial Church. He works for film makers, event organizers, TV stations, etc.

Guinness Bid Eruption concert was sponsored by Guinness and saw performances from artistes such as Akon (headline artist), Big Sean, Wizkid, Samini and Bandana. It's the only platform in many years that brought together dancehall artistes Samini and Bandana aka Shatta Wale face to face on one stage. It was a hugely attended event.

Though some art critics used the event as a touchstone to crown who the true King of dancehall musicians is in Ghana, I feel none merited the crown at the end of the day. The crowd cheered Bandana more than Samini and Samini too gave a top-drawer performance than Bandana. I call it a draw match. I long to see both again for the covetous King of Dancehall in Ghana. Until then…MOTWUM!!
