Accra, 3rd September 2012: Mamprobi will come alive this weekend as the Y FM entertainment crew hits the suburb of Accra with the 4th edition of its coveted event, the Y FM Area Codes Jam. The YFM Area Codes Jam is a bi-annual musical concert organised by Ghana's urban radio station Y FM for any area that comes top in a keenly contested competition held for all listeners of the station.
Venue for the event is normally determined by listeners across the city. Listeners are required to text to the short code 1724 on all other telecommunication networks and 1824 on Airtel indicating their area of choice with acronyms such as DC for Dansoman, TM for Tema, TN for Teshie Nungua and DZ for Dzorwulu etc. The Area Codes Jam is then held at the location that emerges as the top area of choice by listeners through text message votes. The Jam is usually held on a busy street of the winning area.
Sponsored by MTN, the event is held to appreciate and celebrate all loyal listeners and fans of the station for the young and young at heart. This year's is the 4th edition and it is slated for Mamprobi, a suburb of Accra on the 8th of September at the Salvation Army Park.
Y FM's General Manager, Nana Kwame Osei Sarpong says 'this year's event has in stock several mind blowing activities that will just spice up your weekend. We are inviting the whole of Accra to come join the Y FM crew as they storm Mamprobi this weekend. The Y FM hot squad and the DJs including Jay Foley, Jeremy, Caroline, DJ Kess, DJ Flexi, DJ Killer Fingers, among others will take turns in setting the stage on fire with thrilling musical stunts and stagecraft.
This year's Area codes Jam promises to turn Mamprobi upside down and will bring all activities to a halt with the whole Y FM entertainment crew including its finest DJs, presenters and some of Ghana's finest and most sought after musicians. VIP, D Black, Keche, Dr. Cryme, Atumpan, Lousika, Jupiter, Chemphe, Yaa Pono, Nyiraba Kojo, Dr Slim, and other artistes are expected to treat the audience with ecstatic performances.
In addition to great performances by these artistes, the occasion will provide a unique opportunity for upcoming talented artists in Mamprobi to also show what they have got to offer. The audience will further be engaged through other exciting activities such as singing and dancing competition. Interactions, photo sessions, and networking with celebrities will be after the show. The Y 107.9 FM Area Codes Jam is another innovation by Y FM and it is powered by the Y FM Entertainment team.
