MUSIGA Launches Website

The Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA) on Tuesday, re-launched its website, www.musiga.org.gh as part of efforts to promote the activities of Ghanaian musicians and the union to the outside world.

The ceremony which was chaired by Alhaji Sidiku Buari, held at the African Regency Hotel, attracted a number of music icons, officials from the World Bank, UNDP, Eco Bank, GLOBA as well as some of the stakeholders in the music and film industries.

The re-launch of the website according to the president of MUSIGA, Bice Osei Kuffour, aka Obour, was to meet the requirements of the time and also better serve its members and stakeholders.

 'The website project also involves a portal for the sale of Ghanaian music worldwide.

'This is also in line with the leadership's vision to rebrand the union create wealth for music right owners, increase investor confidence to the sector and also make our industry more responsive to modern trends,' Obuor said.

Established over four decades ago, MUSIGA had membership strength of over 4000 musicians, made up of highlife, hiplife, reggae, gospel and traditional artistes.

The union also had sound engineers, producers, artistes' managers among others as members.

Its membership was spread across the country with offices in all the ten regions.
