Innocent Idibia, aka 2Face is, no doubt, one of Nigeria's most versatile and successful singers. This talented artiste attributes his success to three men who have deeply influenced him: Bob Marley, Fela Anikulapo-Kuti and Majek Fashek.
Fortunately, Fashek is still alive and his music has continued to impact positively on the much younger 2Face.
“I love to listen to Majek's recorded works any time,” said 2Face, who came to the limelight with his monster hit, African Queen, in 2004.
“I'm passionate about reggae because it allows me to express myself without fear or favour. Reggae is socially and politically conscious music like Fela's Afrobeat.”
2Face confesses that he actually took to mixing reggae with other genres because it was what his fans, especially youths, want to listen to.
“Other influences rubbed off on me, but Fela, Bob Marley and Majek are forever my chief musical influences,” he said.
