“In GH, toothpaste means Pepsodent. Beer means Club. Humor means This Family Is Not For Sale,” says writer and director Kobina Amoa Ansah. Come Saturday, 14th and Sunday, 15th February 2015, the Efua T. Sutherland Drama Studio, University of Ghana, will witness a historic play; the first serial stage play in GH!

With the tagline '100% humor, 0% tumor!', this high voltage, ever-humorous This Family Is Not For Sale; Season 1 hinges on a typical middle class Ghanaian family with each family member having one skeleton or the other in their cupboard. The “only master” of the family, the techunconscious Mr. Abban, a retired footballer, aside the headache his always-losing team gives him, has to curb the tension in his home; from poverty, joblessness, to even stolen identity. His sexagenarian wife, wanting to keep up with trends, rebukes anyone who thinks she's old.

His first son returns from the States as a medical doctor who doubles as the GM of the West Minnesota Hospital, though he's actually only a GM (general mortician). His second son, a “selfstyled Archaeology graduate”, is striving to mutually benefit from a yet-to-be marriage to a professor's daughter, hence, doesn't even mind trading his surname for that of the lady's, after marriage.

Mr. Abban's only daughter has two master degrees and currently pursuing a third, yet can't put “a decent meal that can't be mistaken for poison” on a table, without her cookbook. The “domestic executive officer” (houseboy) in the house tries all he can to change the economic status of the home; even if it means winning lotto. Mr. Abban's grandson, Little Nana a.k.a Skirt, a “Chinese Skirt”, is so brilliant that in class, he always places second… but from the bottom…and attends every private extra classes there ever is, even P.E.

Written and directed by one of GH's finest writers, Kobina Amoa Ansah, this play promises to give Ghanaians a good treat on such a memorable day. He cautioned, “Kindly bring a spare rib when coming. You might very much need it!”

This Family Is Not For Sale; Season 1 is a Scribe Productions play and comes off at 7pm at a cool rate of 15 cedis (single) and 25 cedis (double). Meanwhile, Ghana National Fire Service will be on standby. Laugh out loud.
