14 Ways to Root Your Teen In Christ – Part 1

Leading your child to Christ is not enough; you must work on him until he is rooted in Christ Jesus, serving the Lord and helping others to know God and grow in grace.

Many parents that have the privilege of leading their children to Christ do relax after, thinking the job has been done. This is totally wrong. The work of leading a child to Christ is not complete until he is totally rooted in Christ.  Here, let's talk about getting your child rooted in Christ.

1. PRAY ABOUT IT: Pray to God to make him rooted in Christ Jesus.  Pray for ceaseless flow of the love of Christ in his heart. Pray for the image of Christ to be permanently stamped on his heart. Note that the prayer for your child to be rooted in Christ is a life time task, so it must continue.

2. HELP HIM BUILD A QUIET TIME CULTURE: Teach your child to appreciate quiet time as a rewarding lifestyle. Teach him how to go about it. Get a devotional handbook for him, to make it easy for him. You can also register yourself and your teenager for daily devotional on our ministry site at: www.totalfamilylife.com/devotional . It will be delivered to your mail box by 5 a.m. every day.

Also you need to teach your teen how to wake up early to seek the face of God. He may need to use alarm clock or you may need to wake him up for several weeks before he gets used to it.

3. HELP HIM BUILD A BIBLE STUDY CULTURE: Teach your child how to build a Bible study culture. He needs this to grow in grace (Psalm 119:9).

4. REGULAR CHURCH ATTENDANCE: Make regular church attendance a family culture, including weekly services.  It will help your teen to grow in grace.

5. YOUTH AND TEEN FELLOWSHIP: Encourage your child to attend special and regular Teen and Youth Fellowship.

6. GET GOOD BOOKS: Get good books that you know will help your child to grow and live a wholesome life for him. Ensure that he reads it and then discuss the content with him.

7. FAMILY DEVOTION: Enforce regular family devotion, morning or evening or both. Set a specific time for it and make sure everyone is involved. It must take place, either you are at home or not.
