A  fresh fruit basket is an ideal gift for many occasions, or to convey wishes like 'Get well soon',' Thank You' or 'congratulations'. A generic basket like pears and apples is an ordinary and boring gift. You can spice up the basket with exotic fruits, stylishly cut fruits, or personalizing the basket with a particular theme.

Here are some tips to spruce up a fresh fruit basket:

A fruit basket with a theme: Instead of randomly choosing fruits, select them according to a theme that reflects the special occasion, or the taste and preferences of the recipient. For instance, if your friend is laid up in hospital, send a get well  soon fresh fruit hamper filled with healthy fruits like apples, pears, and banana. To create a tropical fruit basket, select tropical fruit like mangoes, guavas, bananas, and papayas.  Other themes include 'citrus basket' if you are visiting friends in places where citrus fruits are hard to come by and a 'much loved colour theme' (yellow basket could include mangoes, papaya, bananas, and apricots).

Locavore basket: This is a basket that will be loved by the recipient who follows a green or vegan lifestyle. Locavores are persons who eat only local produce- especially organic produce grown within 100 miles. The idea is that they are not shipped from faraway places that would leave a strong carbon footprint (wastage of hydrocarbon fuels).  If you want to order a fruits basket online, and you need it fast, order for same day delivery fruit basket.

Fruit bouquet: They are much appreciated but are very costly. If you are on a budget and don't mind getting your hands messy, you can assemble a fruit bouquet at home. Purchase a basket (wicker or cardboard) and a large piece of florist foam to fill inside. You may require cookie cutter or wooden skewers to create shapes from the fruit. Cut open water melon, cantaloupe and pine apple, and use cookie cutters to form shapes. For the gaps, fill in with strawberries and grapes.

Here is a great way to assemble a fresh fruit basket at home:

Purchase colourful fruit free of damages and blemishes. Though you might prefer to go in for traditional fruits like bananas, apples and oranges, you can lend an exotic touch by including fruits like mangoes, pineapple and kiwi.

Fill a wicker basket or any other basket with coloured, shredded paper and place the fruit on the top. Place bigger pieces of fruit at the bottom of one side and other fruit pieces around it.

Use a plastic wrapping that seals heat for protecting your fruit basket. Plastic gift wrapping can be bought in different colours and designs. But make sure that the plastic is suitable for contact with edible products without damaging it. Cut the plastic wrapping to about 3 times the size of the basket.

Place the fruit basket at the middle of the gift wrapping plastic paper and bring up the sides. Secure the gift basket at the top by using a ribbon or bow after using hot air from a blow dryer to seal the bag.

Enhance the look of your fruit basket with ribbons, flowers, and other extras, which give a beautiful look to your gift.
