There is nothing more beloved to God than a youth who turns to Him. - By: Prophet Muhammad (s)

Doing what is right is always difficult for almost everybody. Although we do not have perfect human beings and we all make mistakes, we can strive to do the right thing. Doing the right thing, especially under trying moments, requires moral strength.

As children, you should strive to do the right thing always. You will face problems and make mistakes but don't give up. When you uphold this principle early in life, it would be difficult for you to go against it.

There are so many things that go wrong in life because you do not do the right thing. Some students seek admission to universities with false certificates, while others cheat during examinations or get others to write the exams for them. That is impersonation, which is criminal.

You know very well that no parent will be happy to see their teenage children in a relationship with the opposite sex, yet some of you ignore the right thing and start sexual relationships.

Have you heard of some sportsmen and women using dubious means to win races and competitions. Not long ago a participant who was all over the news for being the best female athlete was stripped of her titles and sent to jail because she tested positive for a drug which she was not supposed to take during the competition. That is the result when you do not do the right thing.

In trying to do the right thing, you may face serious opposition from your friends and mates. Some may despise you and even call you names such as “prim and proper, holier than thou” and all kinds of names just to sway you to their side.

But you need to stand your ground and do the right thing. In doing that, those who criticise you will secretly admire you and you can win the hearts of many.

Though it might be difficult, you need to be self-disciplined and resolve to do what is right in spite of the situation you find yourself in and in the end, you would be glad you did yourself that good.
