Located just at the entrance of the Accra Mall, the new retail channel is the first of its kind in Africa and will seek to give customers a unique, pleasant and memorable shopping experience.

“Our goal is to create a store where customers can access a vast array of Vlisco products and at the same time receive professional services from well-trained store staff and special in-store consultants who would help you in choosing the right fabric and dress style that will match your taste, colour, frame and the occasion,” stated Erik Van der Staaij, Managing Director for the Vlisco Group in Ghana during the official opening of the store Thursday night at the Accra Mall.

“We like every customer who goes through the Vlisco store experience to have a taste of the wisdom and sophistication of 160 years heritage. She or he must come out of the store feeling special,” he added.

The Vlisco store has a number of unique features designed to showcase the brand's quality of inspiration and creative works of art. The white backdrop and floors, according to officials of the company, are meant to bring to life the colourful and creative designs of Vlisco. “At the centre of the store is a stage where the spotlight will be on our latest product innovations, trends or collaborations,” Erik revealed.

He said the company decided on this retail concept because “Vlisco is quite comfortable and confident of Ghana's democratic environment which is encouraging business development.”

Again, he noted that “Accra is one of the most bustling cosmopolitan cities in Africa where shopping malls are re-defining the retail landscape.”

Vlisco also used the occasion to launch its Q4 collection christened 'Parade of Charm'. The collection draws its inspiration from the sleek silhouettes of modern metropolitan architecture. Geometric lines and sculptural shapes set the tone and are used with a feminine Vlisco twist that makes every woman feel utterly chic and irresistibly elegant.

The designs have an almost three-dimensional effect, owing to an ingenious interplay of light, shape and colours. Sophisticated black and grey shades dominate the colour palette and to create stunning contrast, these inky hues add depth while muted colours such as olive green, lavender and wine red add interest.

The splendor the Q4 collections was particularly highlighted when six beautiful ladies teetered down the end of catwalk. Clad in different designs by some of Ghana's finest creative directors in the fashion industry – Ameyo, Agyepoma, House of Eccentric, Royal designs among others – the ladies rocked it hard to keep the audience in high spirits.

The MC of the night, actress and TV personality Joslyn Dumas did not leave the job for the models alone. She was spotted several times flaunting her curvaceous figure in tight-fitted clothing, bringing out the real charm of this collection.

Musicians Okyeame Quame, Sherifa Gunu and others serenaded the models as they walked the runway while treating the cheerful audience with soothing lyrics.
