A marriage and family counsellor has urged men to consider a woman's intellectual ability as critical in choosing a lifetime partner.

In a lengthy Facebook post on Friday, May 26, a Nigeria-based family coach Jane Chukwu said good-reasoning women has the tendency of making a couple successful.

According to her, "I told my boy [son] few days ago, If he brings a girl with low intellectual ability, I won't come for that wedding."

She continued in part "I have told all who cares to hear that the first thing you need to lookout for in a spouse is ability to reason, understand and make reasonable interpretation."

Ms. Chukwu narrated how her own intellectual ability helped transform her own finances and marriage, saying "If you are doing a job that's not going to make you rich, quit it and start something else."

She told women to take responsibility for improving their situations, criticizing those who "accept a job of 50k and then...come to the Internet to show your inability to X-ray yourself and make right choices."

Ms. Chukwu stressed that " intellectual laziness" will limit success, advising: "You must be physically and intellectually sound."

The counsellor urged men to "give your spouses comprehension to read and explain before marriage", saying "I hate to see fine girls with idiotic brains."

She concludes "The first thing you need to lookout for in a spouse is ability to reason, understand and make reasonable interpretation."
