The 8th edition of the annual Apasoa Kasa (Scissors Talks) fashion show for graduating fashion students of BlueCrest School of Fashion & Design Ghana was held at the Accra World Trade Center on the 22nd of October 2022.

This year's fashion show theme was “Incorporating Sustainable Fashion with Vibrance, Color, and rhythm”. An exciting night of fashion, the show included a variety of colors and rhythms that wowed the audience.

The Apaso) Kasa Fashion Show is an annual event in Ghana that showcases the talent of up-and-coming designers that have gone through the institution's undergraduate, diploma or certificate program. The event provides an opportunity for people to see the latest fashion trends and a great opportunity to see the work of the graduating students who are emerging fashion talents.

The night started with a warm welcome from the President & Rector of the institution, Dr. Sujith Jayaprakash who gave a brief background of the School of Fashion & Design and its core objective of empowering the youth through skill development programs in fashion and textiles. The University has successfully graduated over 5000 designers in the last five years making it evident that "we are well on our way to achieving our goal."

The showcase featured the latest trends in sustainable fashion with over 28 graduate student designers from the School of Fashion & Design. The showcase presented a broad range of collections that exemplified the innovative spirits of young emerging designers. The motive for this year’s theme was to raise awareness of sustainability and present conscious fashion trends to the public. In addition to this, the University presented awards to two prominent icons in the fashion industry promoting sustainability and also making waves in the fashion industry in Ghana.

Kofi Oyekere Darko (KOD) was honoured with an Icon Award during the fashion show for his support of the fashion industry and the University. He has been a big promoter in the fashion industry and a believer in its potential in Ghana. Being one of the most influential figures in the Ghanaian fashion and entertainment industry, KOD is the founder of Nineteen 57 & Rhythm on da runway.

Mr. Kwame Amoabeng the CEO of Odina Couture was also given an Honorary award for his immense contribution to a sustainable and conscious fashion brand. The brand is known for its ethical and sustainable practices, as well as its commitment to environmental responsibility.

Odina Couture has become a leading brand voice in the sustainable and conscious fashion movement, and its founder, Kwame Amoabeng has been instrumental in raising awareness of these issues.

"After completing their various programs, BlueCrest School of Fashion & Design graduates are ready to grace the global stage. We're so happy to be able to provide a unique, hands-on, practical fashion design program to our students. They are proud of their achievements and eager to start a rewarding career in the fashion industry.

"We look forward to hearing their success stories we're so excited to see what they are going to accomplish in the future. Congratulations to our Graduates!"

Dignitaries from all sectors were in attendance, including the Chikodi Onyemerela Country Director, British Council, Janet Edna Nyame Exe. Director of National Commission on Culture, Beverly Okoye, Climate Change and Illegal trade attache at British high commission representing the High Commissioner to Ghana, Pawan Varyani, Director of Strategy of Academic City, Kofi Oykere Darko Ceo Nineteen 57, Alfred Dumenu General manager ODINA Couture, Paul Akrofie- Associate Arts Consultant, British Council, Representative from the Ministry of Information, Head of admin TVET, a representative from GIPC and selected high school heads, etc.
