Ghanaian artiste manager and Entertainment pundit, Mr Logic, has expressed discontent with the current state of the hip-life genre, attributing its decline to the departure of renowned music producer Hammer from the industry.

During an interview on Daybreak Hitz on Hitz FM, Mr Logic claimed that Hammer's decision to leave the music scene led to a loss of support for hip-life.

“Our problem is with leadership. It’s important Okyeame Kwame acknowledged they didn’t do something right.

“I respect Hammer, but he left a generation down. If we are talking about why Hip-life doesn’t matter, and they don’t have a category on the digital stores, popularise it, and they will find a way for it,” Mr Logic asserted.

Mr Logic credited Hammer for playing a pivotal role in shaping the careers of prominent artistes such as Sarkodie, Kwaw Kese, Edem, Tinny, and TeePhlow.

He praised Hammer's ability to modernise hip-hop, introducing new trends in instrumentation and culture to the genre.

However, Mr Logic lamented that Hammer's departure left a void in the genre, hindering the potential growth and nurturing of new talents.

He particularly highlighted the impact on the next generation of artistes who missed the opportunity to collaborate with the influential producer.

“People lost the excitement for hip-life when Hammer and co resigned and said they were going to sell bread. You have instituted a movement and ignored selling bread?" Mr Logic expressed his frustration.

Despite his critique, Mr Logic made a case for the potential international recognition of the hip-life genre.

He suggested that if Hammer had continued to contribute to the genre, emerging sub-genres like "Asakaa Drill" could have been categorised at prestigious awards like the Grammys, elevating the global standing of Ghanaian music.
