There is nothing wrong in compiling songs from different sources; it’s not song theft—Kuami Eugene

OCT 15, 2023 LISTEN

Musician Kuami Eugene has said using song tunes from other artists to create original song is acceptable.

According to him, it's all a part of creativity.

In a TV3 Twitter space, he noted that despite such claims made against him, his music is highly patronised.

He noted that musicians work extremely hard to produce a masterpiece.

“It baffles me because I feel like Twitter is one platform where the people there seem to be very knowledgeable about things that go on in the industry, and sometimes they sound like they know what they're talking about but then again you look at some other people on that same platform and it seems like they have no idea what they’re talking about.

“Either that or they're hypocrites because they still listen to artists like Burna Boy even though he draws inspiration from other songs and they never complain but for our own people, the same people complaining are the same people jamming to the song, “ Kuami Eugene stated.

Claims that Kuami Eugene uses beats, lyrics, and melodies from other musicians and uses them in his own songs without giving them due credit have put him in the center of controversy.
