GSP united is a second division club based in Techiman in the Brong Ahafo region. The club was formed in October 2006 to help develop local talents in the area.
The club has achieved some success in its very young history. It was unbeaten in its maiden participation of the Techiman area 2008 2nd division league. The club qualified for the Brong Ahafo regional sub-middle league in Sunyani in 2008. It failed to qualify for the first division after placing second.
The vision of the founders is to be the number one football club in Techiman area in terms of youth development. A big vacum was created in The famous town when two of the major clubs collapsed in the mid 19980s. Holy Stars and Eleven Wonders produced great players for the country. They two rivals collapsed from poor management, lack of facilities and unproductive rivalry.
For more than 25 years the town of Techiman has been without a professional football, not even a well managed amateur club. GSP united management aim is bring revive professional football in the twon. The manage believe there are great stars in the area waiting to be discovered and developed.
The number problem facing the club is lack of facilities. There is no decent football park anywhere in the town except in the senior high schools. The club is currently using the park of Techiman Secondary School for training and home games. An appeal has been made to Techiman Traditional Council and District Assembly to to help provide a town park. No positive response has been received yet.
Edward Anane is the President of the club. He can be reached through this blog. The club manager is Micheal Anane.
