Le Maxque & The Yayra Band Returns From UK Tour & Ready For A Show

Posted by Mapersah Amuzu on Thu, 17 Oct 2013 - Bands & Gigs

Le Maxque & The Yayra Band UK Tour ends successfully. The group left the shores of Accra in February 2013 to the United Kingdom on 3 months tour designed to showcase the traditional ayigbe music to the Ghanaians; especially the ayigbe community in the UK. Their first performance at the SAKS BAR in Luton on 15th February was a clear indication that the group had something good under their sleeve for their waiting audience….and so was it, as their subsequent performances really left an indelible memory in the minds of all who attended. The traditional presence of the group was so ‘griping’, each and every one of the audience remembered his or her home town.

Le Maxque who doubles up as the National Ambassador for National Breast & Cervical Cancer Campaign in Ghana had the golden opportunity in UK to endorse Ms Maria Lovell Ampah, the president of The Ghana Society UK as the official UK representative for the National Breast & Cervical Cancer Campaign, Ghana. The endorsement took place in a colorful ceremony in Luton in the honorable presence of the Ghanaian High Commission to the UK and Ireland Prof. Kweku Danso-Boafo.

The band now back home in Ghana is currently preparing for breast cancer awareness due this October which is observed world wide as breast cancer month. Meanwhile, the group is also planning another major fund raising tour. This time to secure funds toward building a Free Breast Screening Facility in Ghana where any woman can just walk in and have her breast screened for free. Their new music video shot in London during the UK tour and dedicated to the breast and cervical cancer campaign is expected to be launched during this fund raising tour. Le Maxque, the leader of the band and the national ambassador says this fund raising tour initiative has become necessary due to the high cost of breast screening in Ghana, a hindrance that has become a devourer silently destroying the lives of poor women who constitute majority of breast cancer victims.

The band is geared up for their up coming show all set for a splendid performance.
