Independent parliamentary candidate for the Ejisu by-election, Kwabena Owusu Aduomi has replied NPP flagbearer Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s allegations that he has switched allegiance to the NDC.

He said the Vice President and the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) are frustrated due to the efforts he has made in his campaign.

Owusu Aduomi, a former NPP MP for Ejisu, claims he has conducted a clean campaign unlike the NPP who are allegedly inducing voters with money.

"I am doing my campaign with my own efforts. They have been distributing money but has anyone seen me sharing me? Bawumia is frustrated. The effort I have put up in this campaign has rendered the NPP frustrated that's why they are making such allegations," the former lawmaker told Accra-based Onua TV.

The veteran politician said the people of Ejisu will vote based on his track record of development and service, not propaganda from the ruling party.

He pointed out that projects he started have been left uncompleted since he lost the NPP parliamentary primary.

"They cannot influence the people with their words because my good works, humility and relationship with the people is what the people will consider in their choice," Owusu Aduomi stated.

He emphasized that Dr. Bawumia's claim that he has switched to the NDC is "laughable", giving the fact that he served three terms as an NPP MP.

The by-election is seen as a two-horse race between Aduomi and the NPP's Kwabena Boateng, with the NDC choosing not to field a candidate.
