Actress and activist Yvonne Nelson has called on Ghanaians to join her in organizing a second "Dumsor Must Stop" vigil to demand accountability and action from the NPP government over the return of persistent power outages in the country.

In a statement dated April 30, Ms. Nelson expressed deep concern over the resurgence of the energy crisis popularly known as "dumsor", which she said never thought would return after leading a successful campaign against it in 2015.

"As a proud Ghanaian and advocate for positive change, I never anticipated the return of such a debilitating issue, let alone another prolonged duration," the actress said.

She recalled how in 2015, together with other celebrities and Imani Ghana, an economic policy think tank, they organized nationwide protests under the "Dumsor Must Stop" banner to compel the then government to fix the power challenges.

"We must come together once again to demand accountability and action from our leaders," she stated.

However, she said she is yet to receive a response from Imani Ghana and its Director of Research, Kofi Bentil, on their willingness to support another vigil despite reaching out to them.

Yvonne Nelson is therefore appealing to "lawyers, volunteers, and concerned citizens to contribute their expertise and support in planning and executing this event because Yvonne Nelson can't do it alone."

The actress said the fight against dumsor "transcends political affiliations, and we must unite as Ghanaians to address this pressing issue."
