Wa, May 20, GNA - Five New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary aspirants of the Wa Central Constituency have pledged to carry out their campaigns free of insults.

'We will go out there to campaign using civil language and avoid discrediting any aspirant. Our campaign will be based on substance and not insults,' the five aspirants pledged at a news conference in Wa.

The aspirants are: Mr Osuman Abdul Hamid, Mr Mahama Ishaq Kafrimentain, Mr Tahiru Issahaku Moomin, Mr Hadi Bawa and Janet Bibii.

They also promised to give a one hundred percent support to the eventual winner and campaign together for the party to win the seat.

Mr Hanif Jaoto, Group Secretary of Friends of Dr Mahammudu Bawumia, organisers of the conference, said the NPP is at the crossroad of fulfilling its constitutional mandate on the selection of its parliamentary candidates.

'This last stage is quite crucial as it largely determines the chances of the party at winning the general election and this depends on how we conduct ourselves before, during and after the process,' he said.

Mr Jaoto cautioned the leadership of the party, parliamentary aspirants and their supporters that the society is mindful of their utterances and they must guide themselves and the party from the imminent peril of falling into opposition again.

He pleaded with the aspirants contesting the parliamentary seat and others across the nation not to soil their campaigns with abusive language that may be used against 'all of us as a party' in the upcoming 2016 general election.

'The despondency to be called a zero seat region is not a good sign for the NPP,' Mr Jaoto said and appealed to aspirants who may lose the primaries to see the need to support the chosen candidate.
