Nana Asare Bediako aka Obama, the Atwima Nwabiagya District Chief Executive (DCE) is in hot waters as some National Democratic Congress (NDC) functionaries in the district have threatened to use violent means to remove him from office in seven days' time.

Led by one Iddrisu, NDC youth wing chairman of Atwima Nwabiagya, the angry-looking NDC members, accused Obama of several wrongdoings, including selling chemicals meant for distribution to farmers to spray their farms.

They have consequently given President John Dramani Mahama a seven-day ultimatum to kick Obama from office, warning that failure to adhere to their request would result in mayhem in the district.

'We have given the president seven days' ultimatum to replace Obama with a competent person as the DCE of the area to help save our beloved NDC from collapsing at Atwima Nwabiagya.

'But if the presidency brushes aside our request and allows Obama to stay in office, then we shall be forced to use violent means to remove him from office,' Iddrisu warned in an angry tone on Hello FM - a Kumasi-based radio station.

Iddrisu described Obama as very incompetent, adding that the entire residents of the district were suffering since the area is still underdeveloped, 'all because the DCE is not competent enough to initiate programmes to develop the area.'

According to him, Obama's ineffectiveness had made the NDC very unpopular at Atwima Nwabiagya, and feared that if the trend was not changed now, it could have adverse effect on the NDC in the 2016 polls.

Iddrisu said the Barekese Dam, which produces portable drinking water for most people in Kumasi, was fast drying up due to felling of trees by some individuals at the bank of the dam; but the DCE had been watching that development unconcerned.

The NDC man said again that some of the areas in the district had become safe haven for illegal mining operators lately but shockingly, the DCE was not taking any action, stressing that 'We don't want him as our DCE anymore.'
