Ignore Sammy Awuku's call for civil revolt against Gov't- Aspiring NDC Youth Organiser
29.09.2014 LISTEN

Aspiring Youth Organiser of the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) Prince Kassim Alubankudi has described as “irresponsible and lawless”, the call by National Youth Organiser for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) for a civil revolt against the government.

Sammy Awuku recommended the public uprising against the John Mahama-led administration, whom he claimed had subjected Ghana to abuse with his incompetence, while speaking on Oman FM last Thursday.

However, Prince Kassim says instead of paying heed to the call, the youth should rather invest their energies into cooperating with President John Mahama as he implements policy initiatives designed to transform the Ghanaian economy.

“President John Mahama and his NDC Government require genuine support from all Ghanaians in order to tackle the decades-old recurrence of economic challenges and not 'civil revolt' as being preached by Sammy Awuku”.

The aspirant said: “Sammy Awuku's comments reflect the increasing level of indiscipline, violence, irresponsibility and lawlessness among the NPP leadership as witnessed in mid-August, when a press conference by the national executives of the NPP turned bloody after some angry party youth stormed the headquarters with guns and machetes.

“Ghanaians must be reminded that this is not the first time Sammy Awuku is advocating political violence in Ghana. In 2012, he was quoted urging NPP youth in TESCON to arm themselves with pestles to fight NDC opponents during that year's elections,” the former Secretary of UK/Ireland Chapter of the NDC recalled.

He said the pronouncement “shows that the NPP cannot be trusted to govern our country in peace” while urging the youth to reject all forms of rebellion aimed at disintegrating the country.

“We must all remember that a political leader or party that preaches violence and revolt against the elected president can only tear the country's peace apart if elected to power”. Story by Ghana | Myjoyonline.com | Jerry Tsatro Mordy | [email protected]
