The only way to end your suffering is vote out NDC - Akomea to Ghanaians

Former New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament for Okaikoi South, Nana Akomea says the only way Ghanaians can end the 'long suffering' is to vote out the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the 2016 general elections.

He intimated that, there is no end in sight to the unprecedented hardships Ghanaians have been plunged into by the “incompetent” Mahama-led administration.

“Let's join hands and show the Mahama-led NDC the exit in 2016 [because] it is now obvious that the NDC can't turn the economy around even if we give them a decade” he stressed.

Nana Akomea made the comment while reacting to the recent increase in petroleum products as announced by the National Petroleum Authority (NPA). The price of petrol (premium) saw the highest increase, up 23.08 percent whilst diesel shot up to 22.01%.

The government has received a lot of backlash for the latest increase. They argued that the recent hike in fuel prices and the subsequent rise in the transport fares will gravely affect them.

However, Nana Akomea on Asempa FM's Ekosii Sen programme Monday said the situation could be worse if the NDC retains power in 2016.

He noted that the Better Ghana Agenda is rather turning Ghanaians into living in a state of penury.

Nana Akomea is convinced the current economic instability is due to the “government's failure to maintain stability of the cedi and macro-economic mismanagement”.

According to him, the cedi started depreciating in December 2012 but 'typical of the Mahama government, it was not proactive to halt it'.

“John Mahama is the most experienced president Ghana has ever had yet the country has no sense of direction. Corruption has become the order of the day; it is sad” he lamented.

Nana Akomea MP believes the NPP is the only political party that can save Ghana from collapse.

“In the whole eight years of the NPP administration, the cedi depreciated by 60% but NDC has been in power for only six years and the cedi has depreciated by 130% so when it comes to the economic management, NDC is not our co-equal” he added. Story by Ghana/Adomonline.com/Adwoa Gyasiwaa
