Mr. Allen Kilavuka, CEO of Kenya Airways, emphasizes the necessity of establishing more robust African carriers to facilitate trade across the continent.

He underscores Kenya Airways' collaboration with other African airlines to create a strong entity capable of serving Africa and competing effectively.

During his recent visit to Ghana, Mr. Kilavuka highlighted the purpose of his trip, which included strengthening relationships in the aviation market and exploring opportunities for mutual support and collaboration. He emphasized the importance of Ghana as a critical market for Kenya Airways, citing Accra as the airline's hub in the West Africa region.

Mr. Kilavuka shared positive developments within Kenya Airways, noting the company's first operating profit in seven years and its highest revenue and passenger numbers to date. He expressed anticipation of a 20% revenue growth for the current year.

Regarding expansion plans, Mr. Kilavuka mentioned the consideration of operating direct flights to the newly revamped Kumasi International Airport in Ghana. He acknowledged the airport's modern facilities and increased capacity, indicating that Kenya Airways views Kumasi as a promising destination for further connectivity.

With Kumasi International Airport's strategic location and upgraded infrastructure, Mr. Kilavuka sees flying to Kumasi as a viable option worthy of favorable consideration by Kenya Airways' management.
