Sports Ministry Embarks On Inspection Exercise At Essipong Stadium Today

The Ministry of Youth, Sports, and Culture, Hon. Isaac Kwame Asiamah will embark on an inspection exercise at the Essipong Sports Stadium at Sekondi later this afternoon.

The general exercise is expected to pave way for major renovation works to commence on the facility to give it a facelift before football in the country makes a return when the Coronavirus (Covid-19) crisis is over.

A statement from Kofi Asare Brako, personal assistant to the Sports Minister has said: The Minister of Youth and Sports, Hon. Isaac Kwame Asiamah (MP) will embark on a general inspection exercise for major renovation works to commence at the Sekondi Sports Stadium, Essipong at exactly 12 noon today”.

Top government officials expected to be present for the inspection exercise are Hon. Joe Ghartey (Minister of Railways Development), Hon. Kwabena Okyere Darko-Mensah (Western Regional Minister), Mr. Anthony K. K. Sam (Metropolitan Chief Executive, Sekondi Takoradi), Mr. Frank Quist (Chief Director, Ministry of Youth and Sports), Hon. Kwadwo Baah Agyeman (Board Chairman, National (Sports Authority), and Professor Peter Twumasi (Director-General, National Sports Authority).

The imminent start of renovations works at the Essipong Stadium will be the second the Ministry of Sports is undertaking this year. They have already commenced a similar exercise at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.
