Deputy Greater Accra Representative for Asante Kotoko, Nana Kwame Dankwah has stressed that the club has no intension of imposing pay cuts on its players amidst the Coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic.

At a time where the football season has been suspended in the country as a precautionary measure against the spread of the disease, clubs are not gaining any income from gate proceeds and are facing financial difficulties.

The pay cut idea has hence come up to support the management of clubs during this difficult period.

According to Nana Kwame Dankwah, management of Asante Kotoko has had a discussion with the coach of the team on the matter but has not taken a definite decision because they do not want to impose it on players.

“There is this issue of pay cuts. Management has spoken with the Head Coach. He is to discuss it with the playing body and revert to us. At the moment, that is what we are confronted with.

“We are not imposing it on the players. We need to discuss it with them so that there will be [amicable] agreement. We are waiting to hear from them” said Nana Kwame”, Nana Kwame Dankwah told Joy FM on Saturday.

Meanwhile, coach for Asante Kotoko, Maxwell Konadu has shared that he has had discussions with senior players of the team who are ready to help the club in any way they can.
