Watford striker, Danny Welbeck has donated relief to his maternal hometown in Ghana in their fight against the coronavirus.

The former Manchester United and Arsenal forward who is of Ghanaian descent, has paid for food and sanitary relief for the residents of Nkawiepanin in the Atwima Nwabiagya municipality of Ashanti.

Welbeck has also paid for new hand sanitisers PPE equipment for the local hospital.

Welbeck also spoke to a number of the area’s residents through a video call, urging them to stay home in their fight against Covid-19.

Presenting the items on behalf of footballer, his aunt, Charlotte Adwoa Tumutuom said, "Danny has been very concerned about how his people would survive these trying times.

"Though he has never lived here, he has a great affection for the people of Ghana, so he felt it prudent to offer some help in the very small way that he can to support the government’s efforts in these times," he added.
