Diminutive Black Stars winger, Samuel Owusu on Saturday, March 28, 2020, donated 125 cartons of hand sanitizers to the Ghana Football Association (GFA).

The gesture was done through his ‘The Owusu Project’ and is to help in the fight against the spread of the Coronavirus (Covid-19) in the West African Country.

The sanitizers said to be over 3,000 are expected to be distributed by the Ghana FA to clubs in locations that have recorded cases of the virus [Accra, Tema, Kumasi, and Obuasi].

Speaking on behalf of Samuel Owusu who is currently in Saudi Arabia, CEO of 'The Owusu project', Patrick Akoto indicated that the donation is their little contribution towards fighting the Coronavirus pandemic.

“The human race is facing a possible extinction and the world is in deep trouble due to this rampaging threat from Coronavirus so we saw the need to contribute our quota to this fight”, Patrick Akoto who is also the PRO for Medeama SC said.

Prosper Harrison Addo, the General Secretary of the GFA who received the items on behalf of the body expressed appreciation to Samuel Owusu for the move.

“This is a very good step. On behalf of the GFA, I would like to thank Samuel Owusu for the presentation.

“He has done tremendously well; the GFA and the clubs are grateful”, Mr. Addo said.

Samuel Owusu is currently with Al-Fayha in Saudi Arabia but is self-isolating because of the Coronavirus. He celebrates his birthday today as he turns 24.
