Former assistant coach for Ashanti Gold, Yakubu Mambo has tipped CK Akonnor to succeed as the head of the technical team of the Black Stars.
Coach Akonnor was appointed as the head coach for the Ghana senior national team in January to replace coach James Kwesi Appiah whose contract had expired at the end of December 2019.
His confirmation attracted different opinions from pundits with some backing him as the right man for the job while others opined that he needed more time to mature in the field before being given the job.
In an interview with Cape Coast-based Yes FM, ex-Ashgold coach Yakubu Mambo has indicated that CK Akonnor will easily do the Black Stars job.
“C.K can do the Black Stars job easily. I have worked with him and I know his ability goes beyond coaching the national team. He will do the job easily”, the gaffer said.
He added, “The Black Stars coaching job is easier than coaching Ashgold. So C.K is the right man for the job”.
Coach CK Akonnor was expected to handle his first Black Stars assignment this weekend in a match against Sudan but it has been postponed due to the Coronavirus pandemic.
