Obuasi Ashanti Gold has climbed from behind to defeat Karela United 2-1 today at the Akoon Community Park in the Ghana Premier League.
The two teams have endured difficult spells in their last couple of games and went into today’s fixture to seek for all 3 points on Match Week 15 of the ongoing campaign.
At the end of a first-half that produced some exciting football for spectators, neither club could find the back of the net despite managing to create good goal scoring opportunities.
A good start to the second half saw Karela United taking the lead on the 63rd minute after danger man Diawisie Taylor found the back of the net.
Later in the game, Samid Ibrahim scored to bring Ashgold back into the game while switching the balance of play in their favour. The visitors held on to that advantage and went on to take a deserved lead on the 70th minute courtesy a strike from striker Benedict Darnlen Wobenu.
Though Karela United came in strong in the last 20 minutes, their efforts were not enough and had to succumb to a 2-1 defeat at the end of the 90 minutes.
