The president of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Edwin E.S Okraku has rallied for support for the new head coach of the Black Stars, CK Akunnor to help him succeed.

The former Hearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko coach was appointed as the head of the technical team for the senior national team of Ghana a couple of weeks ago to replace coach Kwesi Appiah whose contract expired at the end of 2019.

Now tasked to lead the Stars through the qualifiers to the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament as well as the Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup, a lot will be expected from the gaffer.

Speaking at a meet the press series organized by the GFA on Monday, GFA president Kurt Okraku has called on all stakeholders especially the Ghanaian public to give Coach CK Akunnor the support he will need.

“As we speak the head trainer Charles Akunnor is outside the shores of Ghana working. We have only one Black Stars. When the Black Stars gel, when the Black Stars play exciting football, it has a multiplier effect on all of us”, he said.

“It is so important for us to offer our undiluted support to not only support our U-15 boys and girls but most importantly our senior national team, the Black Stars. The Black Stars needs your support, the Black Stars needs our support”, the GFA boss stressed.

Meanwhile, coach CK Akunnor has noted that during his reign as the head coach for the Black Stars, he will only work with quality players who are ready to play for the national team.
