Accra, April 2, GNA - The West Africa Polytechnics Games Association (WAPOGA) will hold its maiden games at the Yaba College of Technology Campus in Lagos, Nigeria from 6 to 17 December this year. The decision was confirmed in a communique issued at the end of the Association's Fourth General Assembly, which ended in Accra on Friday. The communique said activities mapped out towards the realisation of the December 2006 Games would include the organisation of Zonal Games at two venues in Ghana and four in Nigeria between October and November 2006.

It said automatic qualification had been granted to Senegal, Mali, Benin, Cote d'Ivoire, Burkina Faso and the host institute, Yaba College of Technology, who therefore would not participate in the zonal games. The Assembly noted with profound gratitude the provision made for the Games by the Federal Government of Nigeria in her 2006 Budget. The Assembly therefore charged Yaba College of Technology to justify the confidence of the Nigerian government by organising a memorable and incident-free Games.

Institut Nationale Polytecchnique of Yamoussoukro, host of the 2008 edition would receive the baton at the next Games.
