Andre Ayew Named In English Championship Team Of The Week

Ghanaian international Andre Ayew has been named in the English Championship ‘Team of the Week’ for his outstanding performance for Swansea City in their 1-1 draw with Blackburn Rovers on Wednesday night.

The two lower division clubs locked horns in a match week 21 fixture at the Liberty Stadium in search of all 3 maximum points but ended up sharing the spoils at the end of the 90 minutes.

Blackburn took the lead just four minutes into the match courtesy a strike from Daniel Graham to stun their hosts.

Determined not to suffer defeat, Swansea City upped their game and went on to restore parity on the 10^th minute when Black Stars captain Andre Dede Ayew powered home a thumping header.

The former Olympic Marseille man finished the match with 57 touches, 30 accurate passes (90.9%), four accurate long balls from four, winning four out of six aerial duels, seven of eleven ground duels, two tackles, two interceptions, and three clearances.

That statistic earned him the ‘Man of the Match’ award in the match and subsequently saw him being included in the Championship ‘Team of the Week’ for match week 21.
