The President of Ghana Olympic Committee (GOC), Ben Nunoo Mensah, has commended the President of the Ghana Minigolf Federation, Talal Fattal, for his contribution to disability sports development in the country.

According to the president of GOC, Mr Fattal, who doubles as the President of the Africa Minigolf Federation, has been a blessing to the life of the disability through sports programs with wheelchair minigolf being an example.

Mr Nunoo Mensah made the pronouncement in Accra on Wednesday when he joined dignitaries to launch the maiden edition of 2019 Ghana Wheelchair Minigolf League league at the Caesars Court minigolf course at Ridge in Accra. The novelty competition is aimed at identifying, training and developing talents in the country.

He assured the disability sports of the GOC's fight to ensure they are able to earn their livelihood through sports which the wheelchair minigolf is a part of.

“Personally, I will do everything possible and be very bias in armchair minigolf because there are people who need help without people like us could have been on the street.

He further challenged the disability sports to embrace the opportunity given to them and fight to achieve glory in wheelchair minigolf so they can be remembered.

"The federation that wins most medals is Paralympic sports; it is the disabled sports who excel in international events so I challenge you to do your best to carry the flag of Ghana high in international tournaments.

“You are not limited in any way in your physical challenges because God has given you limitless abilities, just reach out your abilities and I believe you will rise above whatever you want to do in the sports discipline,” he said.

He said if corporate organisations, religious bodies and others who have been blessed with wealth will emulate Mr Fattal's support for people with disabilities in the country, it will help ride the streets of the disabled who take to begging for a living.
