Sporting director of Real Valladolid, Miguel Ángel Gómez has addressed transfer speculation linking Mohammed Salisu to a move away from the club, amid links to Manchester United.

The Ghana international has been linked with a move to the Red Devils in recent months, with Everton, Newcastle United and Southampton also interested in the player.

The 20-year-old has a €12million release clause after extending his stay in May until 2022.

But Gomez says Valladolid have handed him three contract extensions in the past year or so in an attempt to keep him at the club.

The sporting director spoke openly about Salisu's future and how he wants to keep him at the La Liga club.

“Salisu perceives the love of the club because we have made three contracts in thirteen months,” Gomez told Pucela Fichajes.

“He knows that he is an important player and that we would like to proceed with that renewal, but today there is a standstill.”

The Ghanaian defender has made 14 appearances this season, scoring one goal.
