Premier League side, Manchester United are ready to sign Ghanaian defender, Mohammed Salisu in January.

The young enterprising centre back has a €12m release clause after signing a contract extension with Real Vallodolid until 2022 in May.

The hierarchy of the club sees the release clause as affordable, and the club have extensively scouted the 20-year-old.

However, according to El Diario De Valladolid, Salisu is represented by father of Manchester United star Juan Mata and that makes the move to Old Trafford a possibility.

The former Chelsea midfielder is also represented by the same agency.

The likes of Everton, Newcastle, Southampton and Norwich City have all expressed interest in signing Salisu.

Valladolid are concerned the player will depart for his release clause as they see his value as being far in excess of this amount, with the report adding his skillset is ‘tailored for English football’.

He has made 14 appearances in La Liga this season, scoring once.

The promising defender has made 1.2 tackles per game, 1 interception per game and 36 passes per game 82.9% pass completion in the ongoing season.

Salisu made his debut for Valladolid this season after replacing Fernando Calero.

Meanwhile, he is yet to be capped for the senior national team, the Black Stars of Ghana.
