Premier League side, Manchester United have expressed interest in signing Ghanaian defender, Mohammed Salisu, according to Diario de Valladolid.

The 20-year-old has impressed the scouts of Red Devil with the club ready to sign the youngster.

Manchester United are in talks with Salisu's agent who is also the father of Manchester United playmaker, Juan Mata.

Salisu has a £10m release clause written into his contract after signing a contract extension until 2020 with Real Valladolid.

However, the likes of Everton, Newcastle, Southampton and Norwich City also said to be interested in the defender.

Valladolid rate him highly and it is unlikely they would be willing to let him leave before the end of the season but they may have no option.

Salisu joined Valladolid's youth setup in October 2017 and broke into the first-team squad last season.

After 13 matches played in the La Liga this season, Salisu has made 1.2 tackles per game (better than Maguire & Lindelof), 1 interception per game (better than Lindelof) 36 passes per game 82.9% pass completion.

Salisu was among the 7 players handed a maiden call-up to the Black Stars in their AFCON 20201 qualifiers against South Africa and Sao Tome and Principe but unfortunately has pulled out at the last minute due to injury.
