The Confederation of African Football (Caf) has confirmed the tournament dates for the sixth edition of the Championship of African Nations (CHAN), Cameroon 2020.

Four venues in three host cities – Japoma Stadium, Stade de la Réunification (both in Douala), Stade Ahmadou Ahidjo in Yaounde and the Limbe Stadium – have been earmarked for the 16-team competition from April 4-25.

The decision was taken at an executive committee meeting held in Cairo, Egypt on Thursday.

Cameroon was confirmed as the new host of the tournament exclusively reserved for players featuring in their respective national championships in April this year after Ethiopia admitted it lacked the readiness to host the competition.

Ghana failed to qualify to the competition for the third successive time after falling at home to West African neighbours Burkina Faso.

Burkina join hosts Cameroon, Congo, DR Congo, Rwanda, Tanzania, Uganda, Morocco, Tunisia, Namibia, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Guinea, Mali, Niger and Togo for the three-week-long tournament.

Morocco are defending champions.
