Ghana midfielder, Kingsley Sarfo has been released from prison in Sweden on Thursday night.

The 24-year-old who was sentenced to prison last year in Sweden for child rape by Malmo District Court presided over prosecutor Rikard Darell but has finally been freed after he was found not guilty.

However, fresh evidence presented by the lawyers earlier this month indicates that the charge against him [Kingsley Sarfo] was fabricated by the girl who claimed to be fourteen years.

The former Malmo FF ace spent twenty-two months behind bars after his three-year prison sentence with deportation was cut short by the Swedish authorities.

Sarfo confirmed in an interview with Angel FM on Thursday evening that he has finally been freed from prison.

"I am now out of prison in Sweden. I was released five days ago.

"I thank the Almighty God for this great day. Thanks to my fans, family, friends and everyone for their unflinching support and prayers during the hard times.

"As it has been said that there is grace in disgrace. We [Me and lawyers] are seeking for justice after the unlawful twenty-two months behind bars," he added.

Coach Kwesi Appiah handed Sarfo his maiden Black Stars call-up when he was invited for Ghana’s FIFA World Cup qualifier against Uganda two years ago but the allegations surrounding him curtailed his international career.

He is expected to be in Ghana after his release from prison.
