Jones Asante Mfodwo, aka Kobby Jones, communications director at the Ghana Olympic Committee (GOC) believes Ghana’s Black Meteors are destined to play in the football event of the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo, Japan.

According to Jones, the Black Meteors have three chances of qualifying to the Olympic Games.

He said even if Ghana loses the semi-final against Cote d’Ivoire, they have another opportunity in the third and fourth place match to get the third slot or wait for the playoff against an Asian or Oceanic country for the last slot.

Kobby Jones who is also the PRO of Accra Hearts of Oak expressed that the opportunities of making it to Japan are many, but the Ghana U23 team must grab the option of qualifying on time and prepare for the big tournament.

He noted that Ghana Football is changing and the new GFA executives have brought in new vigour and vim that is bringing back the passion that Ghanaians have for the game.

Ghana missed the chance of playing at the finals when they lost on penalties to Cote d’ Ivoire at the semi-final of the Africa U23 Tournament in Egypt.

The Black Meteors now have to go in for the third-place match.
