Cup of Nations AFCON Qualifiers: Ghana Turns Attention To Sao Tome Clash After Beating South Africa
NOV 15, 2019 LISTEN

Ghana is turning attention to its away match against Sao Tome and Principe in the qualifiers to the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament after beating South Africa at home on Thursday night.

The 3 countries have all been pitted in Group C of the qualifying round to the next edition of the AFCON together with Sudan.

The West Africans hosted the South Africans at the Cape Coast Stadium yesterday and put up a masterclass performance that saw them emerging as 2-0 winner as they bagged their first 3 points.

After celebrating that win, Ghana is now turning its focus to the next qualifier against Sao Tome which is equally as crucial as any other game they will play in the series.

The team will hold a recovery session today and will continue extensive training tomorrow before flying out for the away game.

That match will be played on Monday, November 18, 2019. A win for Ghana will send her to the top of the Group C log if South Africa defeat or draw with Sudan in the other group match.

As things stand now, Sudan sits comfortably at the top of the pile after easing past Sao Tome and Principe with a 4-0 win in their group opener.
