Cup of Nations U-23 AFCON: Ibrahim Tanko Names Starting Eleven To Face Mali In Final Group A Match
NOV 14, 2019 LISTEN

Head coach for Ghana’s Black Meteors, Ibrahim Tanko has named a strong starting eleven to face Mali later today in the final Group A match the CAF U-23 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament ongoing in Egypt.

The team went into the tournament with high hopes of progressing into the knockout stage to have the chance of securing qualification to the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games.

That dream is under serious threat after Ghana earned just a point from her first two matches in Group A. Coach Tanko’s team dew 1-1 in their opening game against Cameroon and went on to lose 3-2 to Egypt last Monday.

They, however, have one last chance to make amends when they come up against Mali today. Though a win will not guarantee progression to the group stage, it has the potential of just urging the Meteors through depending on the result from the other group game.

Ahead of the crucial final group game, Coach Tanko has named his starting line-up for the match. Misfiring striker Kwabena Owusu has been replaced by winger Ruben Polley as the players from the last game keep their places in the team.

Below is Ghana’s lineup for the Mali match:
1 Kwame Baah (G), 2 Kingsley Fobi, 3 Edward Sarpong, 4 Zakaria Fuseini, 5 Habib Mohammed, 6 Michael Agbekornu, 7Ruben Polley, 8 Emmanuel Lomotey, 9 Samuel Obeng Gyabaa, 10 Yaw Yeboah (c), 11 Evans Mensah
