Current top table tennis player in Ghana Emmanuel Commey managed to win a bronze medal at the Africa Top 16 Table Tennis Championship in Ivory Coast over the weekend.

Another Ghanaian top player, Derek Abrefa also took the bronze medal to put Ghana on the map of the African top 16 Tournament held at Parc des sports de Treichville, Abidjan.

The two Ghanaian stars went out at the semi-final stage, however, Commey who has set his eyes on the 2019 SWAG Best Table Tennis Player of the Year Award played a great game, and was the toast of table tennis fans.

Their victors won the first and second positions respectively.

Commey said it was a great tournament, and he learnt a lot, so the upcoming 2020 world championship is going to be a different ball game.

The tournament dubbed ‘Afrique de l’ Ouest took place in Abidjan, La Cote d’Ivoire on November 2nd and 3rd.

The countries that participated were Benin, Burkina Faso, Cape Verde, Guinea Bissau, Guinea, Ghana, Gambia, Liberia, Mali, Mauritania, Niger, Togo, Senegal, Nigeria and Sierra Leone

Ghana’s female pair of Cynthia Kwabi and Linda Annor who represented Ghana at the 2019 African Games were beaten at the quarter-finals stage.
