2021 AFCON Qualifiers: Mubarak Wakaso To Miss Ghana's Doubleheader

Cup of Nations 2021 AFCON Qualifiers: Mubarak Wakaso To Miss Ghana's Doubleheader
NOV 4, 2019 LISTEN

Deportivo Alaves midfield kingpin, Mubarak Wakaso will miss Ghana's doubleheader against South Africa and Sao Tome this month in 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

The 29-year-old missed Alaves 4-2 defeat to Osasuna on Sunday in the Spanish La Liga after suffering a fracture in the metacarpus of his right hand.

Wakaso is expected to undergo further test today to determine the extent of the injury and how long he will be out.

The energetic midfielder's absence will be a big blow for the Deportivo Alaves, who are currently lying 16th on the table, just two points off relegation.

It is unclear if Kwesi Appiah will name a replacement for Wakaso.

Ghana will host South Africa at the Cape Coast Stadium before travelling to Sao Tome.
