Prolific Ashanti Gold striker, Shafiu Mumuni has noted that his call-up to the Black Stars for their upcoming assignments is due to his continuous hard work and determination in the past year.
The forward has enjoyed a good spell with the Miners this year and topped that up with a stellar performance with the Black Stars B team at the recently ended WAFU Cup of Nations tournament in Senegal.
After netting numerous goal to lead his club to glory in the Ghana Football Association (GFA) Normalization Committee Special Competition, Shafiu additionally emerged as the ‘Golden Boot’ winner at the 2019 WAFU.
Ahead of Ghana’s Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against South Africa and Sao Tome and Principe, the clinical attacker has been handed his maiden call-up to the national team.
Speaking to Fox FM after the Black Stars squad was announced today, Shafiu Mumuni has noted that his recent feat is because of hard work and determination even though he was shocked to see his name on the list.
“This morning I saw my name in the squad and I was shocked. It is due to hard work and determination.
“The Shafiu you see in Ashantigold and the WAFU, you will see the same Shafiu in the senior national team camp”, the striker said.
