Abdallah Mamoud aka Shakor, a physically challenged skate soccer player has appealed to the sports minister and the director-general of the National Sports Authority (NSA) for support as they try to do sports to change their lifestyle from begging on the streets to amateur or professional sportsmen.

Speaking to Yours Truly at the Accra Sports Stadium last Saturday evening after the MTN Skate Soccer Tournament, Mamoud who plays for Accra Giants said he loves football a lot, but does not support any club.

“The only team I support is the Black Stars, but they are not performing well these days, so I just play my video games on my laptop when I am free,” he said.

Mamoud who resides at Sabon Zongo, Abossey Okai admires Brazilian playmaker Ronaldinho and says he wants to play like his idol so he uses his intelligence mostly on the field of play than his strength.

“You see I am not all that strong, so I use my skills to beat my opponents. Today, we did not get the full complement of our team, so I had to play as the last man, and I am glad for my performance and our team winning” he expressed.

“We want to appeal to the sports authorities for help. This game is interesting and exciting, but difficult to play. We want the sports ministers and government officials to come to our aid, to watch our matches and give us money” he explained.

“We want to live fine and so government must support us, we are also part of the Ghanaians in Ghana, and we should get physically challenged facilities to make us safe as we contribute to sports promotion and development in Ghana” he noted.

He thanked MTN and Binatone for organizing the Skate Soccer Tournament and urged more companies to join as they need food and water sponsors as well as travel experience because the Skate Soccer game is going international and Ghana must dominate.

He also commended Albert K. Frimpong for his vision and thanked the sports media who have been promoting Skate Soccer.
