Bolgatanga, March 2, GNA - A three-day Inter-Circuit football match competition for Junior Secondary Schools in the Bolgatanga Municipality has ended in Bolgatanga.
Mr. Anthony Aziabah, Municipal Director of Education said the essence of the competition was to create the atmosphere for the youth to acquire the spirit of discipline and fellow feeling and not just for glory of winning.
He said sports should unite people and enable them to cultivate team spirit for the development of their societies. The Municipal Director urged the competing teams to eschew the use of dangerous drugs, saying that the perception that those substances could enhance their performance was erroneous.
He reminded the winners of the role expected of them since they would be groomed for the Inter-Districts and would need to undergo vigorous training.
Mr Aziabah said the capitation grant has come at the right time to salvage sports in the schools and urged all pupils to participate actively in recreational activities. 02 March 06
