GFA Presidential Election: Vetting Committee Disqualifies Palmer From Contesting

Football administrator, Wilfred Osei Kwaku Palmer has been disqualified from contesting the upcoming Ghana Football Association (GFA) presidential elections, the Normalization Committee through a statement has revealed.

The football community has been shocked this afternoon by a press statement posted on the GFA’s official website, revealing the details of the vetting committee set up by the NC.

Following the successful filing of nominations, all seven aspirants who were vying for the top position at the football governing body were called for vetting last weekend.

At the end of thorough grilling, the vetting committee submitted their report to the Normalization Committee who are acting as the Elections Committee for the upcoming polls.

Per the details of the report, all aspirants with the exception of Tema Youth owner, Wilfred Osei Kwaku Palmer has been disqualified from the contesting for the GFA presidency.

A portion of the statement posted on the GFA website this afternoon has indicated, “The Normalization Committee acting as the Elections Committee for the 2019 GFA Presidential and Executive Council elections has received the recommendations of the Vetting Committee”.

By their recommendations, the following have passed as candidates for the respective positions:

George Afriyie
Frederick Pappoe
The GFA elections will come off on October 25, 2019.
