Assistant coach for the Ghana u-23 team, Michael Osei has reiterated the team’s goal to secure qualification to the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games at the end of the upcoming U-23 Africa Cup of Nations.

The West African country is part of 8 top nations from the continent who will be participating in this year’s edition of the u-23 tournament.

Ahead of the showdown which will be hosted by Egypt, Ghana has been pitted in group A alongside the hosts, Cameroon, and Mali.

Whiles all the teams will be gunning for the trophy, they will also use the tournament as the qualifiers for next year’s Olympic Games in Japan. The top 3 teams will straight away earn their ticket to represent Africa at the International stage.

Commenting on Ghana’s opponent for the U-23 Championship, Michael Osei has admitted his team is in a difficult group but has assured that they will strategize to ensure they achieve their goal of securing qualification to Tokyo 2020.

“Now we know the countries we are going to play, so we have to prepare very well, watch their clips and strategize very well”.

“We have a target, a dream, and the players to qualify for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games”, the gaffer said in an interview with Happy FM today.

The tournament will take place between November 8 and November 22, 2019.
